Wyndham City Council Appoints New CEO

At last night’s Wyndham City Council meeting, Mr Stephen Wall was announced as Wyndham City Council’s new Chief Executive Officer. Mr Wall joins Wyndham City Council from Maribyrnong City Council where he has served as Chief Executive Officer for nearly seven years. Mr Wall will start with Wyndham on Monday 9 August.

Wyndham Mayor, Cr Adele Hegedich said she was thrilled that Mr Wall would join Wyndham City and said Wyndham would benefit from his experience as a long-term Chief Executive and Director having worked in the local government sector for over 23 years.

“Council in its first year has a significant program of work to undertake to set us up for our four-year term, so Mr Wall’s experience will be invaluable in ensuring Wyndham continues to deliver for our residents and local businesses, said Cr Hegedich.

“Mr Wall’s experience as a Chief Executive Officer and Director in the Corporate Services field saw him chosen from a strong national field of candidates. His experience will allow him to hit the ground running and ensure we are well placed to continue the vital work underway at Council, including delivery of the Council Plan, Health and Wellbeing Plan and the Long Term Financial Plan.”

“Mr Wall’s local government career has seen him hold the role of Director and General Manager of Corporate Services at Surf Coast Shire Council and Maribyrnong City Council and the office of Chief Executive Officer also at Surf Coast Shire Council and Maribyrnong City Council.”

“I know I speak for all Councillors when I say Mr Wall will provide experience and strong leadership to our more than 1,800 staff at Council and be a tireless advocate for the needs of our 280,000 residents across Wyndham.”

“Councillors would also like to thank Natalie Walker who has acted as Chief Executive Officer since the departure of Kelly Grigsby in April. Natalie has provided strong support to myself as Mayor and to all Councillors to ensure we maintain the pace of work here at Wyndham and continue on seamlessly with our program of work on behalf of the community, said Cr Hegedich.

Mr Wall said “I am thrilled to be appointed as Wyndham City’s Chief Executive Officer. I’ve watched the work of Wyndham for many years now and I’m looking forward to joining the organisation and working with the Council to serve the needs of the Wyndham community.

“I chose many years ago to commit to working in the local government sector as I firmly believe it to be the level of government that has the most direct impact on the lives of residents. I will bring energy and enthusiasm to working at Wyndham and can’t wait to roll my sleeves up and start working with Councillors on the exciting and challenging agenda for the City,” said Mr Wall.
