Touring Club Switzerland Wins 2024 Road Patrol Training For Excellence

From 22-25 October, the FIA Region I and ARC Europe jointly organised the 2024 Road Patrol Training for Excellence in Brussels, kindly hosted by the Touring (TCB, Belgium).

The annual event brings together roadside assistance patrol teams from different countries in Europe and serves as a platform for exchanging best practices and discussing the latest developments in mobility and vehicle repair services; services that are critical to the offering provided by FIA Region I Member Clubs and ARC Europe Members.

This year, 16 teams gathered at Touring’s headquarters in Brussels for three days of intensive training and evaluation. The primary goal of the training is to ensure Member Organisations maintain the highest standards of roadside assistance services. Participants received hands-on technical training and assessments covering various types of vehicles, including electric vehicles.

A notable highlight of this year’s event was a workshop delivered by expert mechanics from Mercedes-Benz, who introduced their “Flying Doctor” service.

During the final assessment of the training, teams were given a score and compete for the title of Best Road Patrol Team of the Year. This year’s team from Touring Club Switzerland (TCS), Vivien Robin and Raphaël Berger, won the title of Best Road Patrol Team in Europe after achieving the highest scores. The team from the Automobile Association of the UK (the AA UK), Chris Wood and Darren Naughton, were the first runner-up while the team from the Royal Dutch Touring Club (ANWB), Michiel Lenselink and Dirk Louter, won third place.

FIA Region I President, Jorge F. Delgado, who was present at the event said, “Through the Road Patrol Training for Excellence, we aim to equip Mobility Clubs with the knowledge and expertise to deliver the highest quality services in roadside assistance. The event clearly highlights the value of knowledge exchange within the FIA Region I network and with partner organizations such as ARC Europe.”

Touring’s COO, Patrick Van den Broeck said, “The 2024 Road Patrol Training for Excellence has once again demonstrated the commitment of Member Clubs to delivering top-tier roadside assistance services. Congratulations to all participating teams for their dedication and hard work, and a special salute to the winners for setting the benchmark in excellence.”

This year’s trainers came from the AA UK, ANWB (The Netherlands), Touring (Belgium) and CLS, all of whom contributed to a successful edition of the Road Patrol Training for Excellence.
