ICA-2024-06 hearing on 03 09 2024 – Ferrari AF Corse – World Endurance Championship

Case ICA-2024-06: Appeal lodged by Ferrari AF Corse against Decision No. 80 dated 12 May 2024 taken by the Stewards of the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) counting towards the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC)

On 11 May 2024, during the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, further to a red flag deployed at 17:13, the Stewards decided at 18:49 to resume the race at 19:10 for 1 hour and 44 minutes in accordance with Article 14.3.1 of the 2024 WEC Sporting Regulations.

On 11 May 2024 at 22:03, Ferrari AF Corse lodged a protest against Stewards’ Decision No. 71 and the provisional classification posted on 11 May 2024 at 21:46. Ferrari AF Corse was summoned to attend a hearing during which it confirmed that the protest was lodged against Decision No. 71 and consequently against the provisional classification.

On 12 May 2024, at 00:12, the Stewards by decision No. 80 rejected the protest on the basis that Stewards’ decisions cannot be the subject of a protest under Article 13.2.1 of the FIA International Sporting Code.

On 15 May 2024, the Appellant lodged an appeal against the Stewards’ Decision No. 80 before the ICA.

Decision

The decision will be published as soon as possible after the hearing.

Accreditation

Requests for accreditation must be sent by email to the FIA Press Office (sgomez@fia.com) on the official letterhead paper of the publication or other medium requesting accreditation, no later than Friday 30 August 2024 at noon (French time).

The accreditation request must be signed by the Chief Editor or the Head of a Department (specify which) of the relevant publication, or medium.

The accreditation request must include the following:

i) the hearing and the date for which the accreditation is requested;

ii) name of the journalist and photocopy of their professional press card (currently valid);

iii) email address to which the FIA can send an answer.
