ETRC: Kiss enjoys nearly perfect weekend at Most as home hero Lacko wins on series comeback

Norbert Kiss enjoyed yet another nearly perfect weekend at Autodrom Most, where the 2023 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship season resumed following a summer break

The Hungarian ace, who is en route to his fifth series title, started off by claiming pole position on Friday afternoon. Jochen Hahn was Kiss’ closest rival, getting within six-tenths of the reigning champion’s time.

On Saturday Kiss went on to convert his pole position into his 11th victory of the season, and in the second of the day’s races, he managed fourth place.

On Sunday, the conditions changed dramatically, but heavy rain did not stop Kiss from taking his second pole position in as many days to start with, and then adding two race victories to round out the weekend and accumulate a total of 57 points.

Going into the Most event there was not much to choose between the likes of Hahn, Sascha Lenz and Antonio Albacete, with only 24 points between the trio in the battle for the runner-up spot in the championship.

Both Hahn and Albacete gathered 33 points each, while Lenz’s total tally of points came up to 30, meaning it is still exactly 24 points covering the three drivers battling for the end-of-season best of the rest.

It was, however, none of the three, but local ace Adam Lacko, who was the only driver other than Kiss who celebrated victory during the Czech Republic round. The 2017 FIA ETRC title winner managed to convert his reversed grid pole in Race 2 into a spectacular win in front of his home crowds in what was his only appearance of the season.

Round 6 of the 2023 Goodyear FIA ETRC seasons will take place from 9-10 September at Belgium’s Circuit Zolder, with Le Mans’ Bugatti Circuit and Circuito del Jarama coming up after and forming the final stages of the season.
