THIRD EDITION OF MENA KARTING CHAMPIONSHIP NATIONS CUP CONCLUDES SUCCESSFULLY IN OMAN
Hosted by the Oman Automobile Association (OAA), the third edition of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Karting Championship Nations Cup concluded on 17 December at the Muscat Speedway Circuit.
OAA welcomed drivers from all over the world to take part in this challenging series being held from 13-17 December 2022.
Registrations for the championship were open for international candidates which led to 137 qualified drivers entering the competition from 16 different countries. Drivers were separated into eight karting categories: DD1, DD2 Master, RD1 Sprint, RD1 Endurance, Junior Max, Mini Max and Max.
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said: “Congratulations to all 137 drivers from 16 ASNs who participated in the 2022 MENA Karting Championship Nations Cup at the Muscat Speedway Circuit. Hosted by the Oman Automobile Association, this is a great stepping stone for young talented drivers to succeed in their motor sport career. I am proud to have been involved in the creation of this unique event, already in its third year, and I am confident that it will help grow the popularity of our sport at a regional level.”
OAA Managing Director Sulaiman Al Rawahi said: “It has been a pleasure hosting this competition for the past three years and this year we hope it to be one of the best. The drivers who have come here to compete have shown us all the potential they hold, and with each year, you see them better than before. The stakes are high and the competition gets tough, and in this kind of championship it is difficult to say who will take home the winning cup.”
The MENA Karting Championship Nations Cup concluded on 17 December under the patronage of General Dr. Mohamed Al-Rawas – Director of Traffic of the Oman Sultania Police, who crowned Lebanon’s National team as its Champion.
