Arrests and charges following Werribee affray

Westgate Alliance Taskforce has charged four youths following a serious affray at a Werribee shopping centre carpark earlier this month.

Investigators have been told a group of males, some armed with machetes and knives, were observed at the carpark about 9.40pm on 6 January.

It will be alleged an affray occurred, during which multiple people were seriously assaulted.

The group of males then fled the scene and three males believed to have been involved in the incident self-presented to hospital with non-life-threatening puncture wounds and lacerations.

Investigators have since charged four youths with a range of offences including Violent Disorder, Affray, Armed with criminal intent, theft and weapons offences.

A 19-year-old Hoppers Crossing man has been remanded to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 1 February.

A 17-year-old Hoppers Crossing boy has been bailed to face court at a later date and two 16-year-old Hoppers Crossing boys have been remanded to face court at a later date.

Police have today executed further warrants in relation to the incident and arrested two additional males.

A 16-year-old Hoppers Crossing boy and an 18-year-old Point Cook man were arrested and have been released pending further enquiries.
