Witness appeal following death of man in Melton South
Homicide Squad detectives are appealing for witnesses following the death of a man in Melton South overnight.
Police and emergency services were called to Staughton Street after a man was located with life-threatening injuries about 2.35am.
It is believed the man had an interaction with an unknown male while walking through the Melton train station about 2.30am.
Following the exchange, the unknown male approached the victim and stabbed him to the upper body.
The victim, a 40-year-old Melton man, sustained life-threatening injuries and died at the scene.
Police would like to speak with a group of four males, perceived to be of African appearance, believed to be with the unidentified male at the southern end of the train station just prior to the incident.
