Melbourne Symphony Orchestra returns to Wyndham
It’s back! The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is returning to Wyndham this summer.
Experience a summer symphony under the skies on Friday 28 January when the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra brings popular classical music back to Wyndham Park.
Following a sell-out concert earlier this year, the MSO returns to again perform excerpts and short works from much-loved music, including renowned classical pieces, plus some contemporary classics in a relaxed family-friendly concert.
Following months of lockdowns and restrictions, this event is one not to be missed.
Wyndham City Mayor Cr Peter Maynard said the event would enable residents to come together after a challenging year to share in the delight of a unique performance.
“We’re thrilled to bring this performance back to Wyndham Park in the heart of Werribee City Centre,” Cr Maynard said.
“It’s going to be magical – some of the country’s most talented musicians, family, friends and a picnic under the stars in the beautiful surrounds of Wyndham Park.”
MSO conductor Benjamin Northey encouraged everyone in Wyndham and Melbourne’s west to step out of their homes and enjoy this special event for all ages in their local neighbourhood.
“Whether you’re a lover of orchestras or brand new to classical music, this concert will be a fun and engaging way to experience the magic of the MSO live in concert. What a way to start the new year!’’
Audiences are invited to explore the city’s cafes and restaurants, with dine-in, takeaway and hampers available or to bring along their own picnic to be enjoyed safely with their friends and family.
The performance by the MSO is part of a Wyndham City music and entertainment extravaganza presented by Wyndham Cultural Centre that includes six free events over two days.
To start the festival of fun, there will be a Children’s show, Jams for Juniors, hosted by MSO at the Wyndham Cultural Centre prior to the main orchestral performance.
And on Saturday, 29 January, The Australian Shakespeare Company will put on two performances of Tinkerbell and The Dream Fairies on stage at Wyndham Park, prior to a performance by world-class band Sneaky Sound System.
Tickets for all shows will be released at 10am on Wednesday, 8 December.
