Wyndham City Council is Bringing Library Services to Williams Landing
Wyndham City is delighted to announce a fabulous new addition to its Library services which will benefit Williams Landing residents; bringing the library to the community.
A new 18 book locker vending machine has been installed at the Williams Landing Shopping Centre. This new state of the art book locker will make it easier for residents to utilise Library resources such as books and magazines. It is free, available and ready for Williams Landing residents to use.
The library is extending out and bringing the library to the community. Now, residents can request a loan and it will be available for pick up from the book locker at the Williams Landing shopping centre. Residents won’t need to travel to a library branch, they can do their shopping, pick up a book and easily return it when finished.
This fantastic initiative will make library resources more accessible and the new book locker is Covid safe and easy to use. The lockers are big enough to fit a number of A4 books or 12 standard size books.
The newly elected Deputy Mayor and the Learning City portfolio holder Cr Jasmine Hill said: “This wonderful initiative will make borrowing and returning books easy. Research has shown that library facilities close to shopping centres will have high catchment areas. The addition of this new model of library service will be a pilot for Wyndham, aiming to be located in train stations and other high traffic areas in future if successful.”
“Wyndham City is committed to providing services for our community that help to encourage and foster learning.”
All you need to do is request a loan through the library’s website libraries@wyndham.vic.gov.au and the library will notify you when your book is ready and which locker it is available from. You will have 10 days to pick it up. There is a return book chute which is convenient and easy to use.
