Man arrested after Point Cook crash

A man has been arrested by police after his vehicle crashed into several trees in Point Cook early this morning.

The incident unfolded when officers from Corio attempted to intercept a Holden sedan after the driver was seen performing burnouts out the front of Corio Police Station about 3.45am.

The driver fled before crashing in Saltwater Promenade, Point Cook about 5.20am.

While ambulance officers were treating the 20-year-olds injuries, he became aggressive and allegedly punched a constable and spat in a Sergeants eye.

The Point Cook man was arrested at the scene and is currently assisting them with their enquiries.
