Wyndham City Celebrates National Volunteer Week
This month Wyndham City celebrates National Volunteer Week, Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteers.
From Monday 17 to Sunday 23 May, Council will celebrate the significant contribution volunteers of Wyndham have made to our community and thank them for stepping up and being so flexible and dedicated during 2020 when COVID-19 created new ways of volunteering.
Wyndham City’s Mayor and Healthy City Portfolio holder Cr Adele Hegedich said now more than ever, it is important to recognise and celebrate Wyndham volunteers and the profound impact they have on so many in our community.
“The theme for 2021 is Recognise. Reconnect. Reimagine. As we live the new COVID-normal we look forward to reconnecting with our volunteers, reimagining our volunteer program and recognising the amazing work they do,” Cr Hegedich said.
“This month we celebrate our volunteers by sharing some of the amazing contributions volunteers are making in Wyndham. You will see a series of videos across our website and social media and we cannot wait for you to watch their stories.”
“Approximately 22,600 Wyndham residents volunteer their time to serve others, including over 150 Wyndham City volunteers who are involved in various programs from delivering meals to residents in need, to researching family history.”
“So if you cross paths with one of these amazing people this month don’t forget to say a big thank you!”
