Wyndham City Council seeks community input into its Recovery Strategy
COVID-19 has been challenging for so many reasons. It has impacted and continues to impact everyone in many ways.
Wyndham City Council is currently focusing on the immediate recovery and helping the community get back on its feet and navigate the new ‘normal’.
The Resilient Wyndham Strategy looks at Wyndham’s long-term resilience and will help to guide and manage the way Wyndham bounces back after the COVID-19 pandemic to be better prepared for future events such as climate change, extreme weather, natural disasters, pandemics, cyber-security attacks and economic downturn.
The Strategy will provide a four-year vision to 2025, with a yearly action plan and targets to help strengthen Wyndham’s resilience and ability to better prepare for future shocks and stresses. It aims to both capture what is already being done as well as identifying where we can do more.
The draft strategy is now live for the people of Wyndham to have their say.
Wyndham City’s Climate Futures & Environment Portfolio holder Cr Robert Szatkowski said that he encourages all members of our community to have a read of the strategy and provide feedback.
“The Resilient Wyndham Strategy is a strategy I’m particularly proud of. We want you to let us know what you think, and let’s work together to continue making Wyndham the best place to live, work and play,” said Cr Szatkowski.
“I’ve been a part of this community for the majority of my life – I grew up here, I went to school here, I’m raising my family here, and I’ve volunteered here. Now I have the privilege of representing my community here.”
“The strong community spirit we have is one of my favourite things about Wyndham. This has been made even more evident, as we continue to grapple with the collective shock of a global pandemic. While it’s been a challenging year, the strength of our community continues to shine through. We’ve seen people across the City banding together to look out for each other.”
