Sporting infrastructure upgrades are a winner in Wyndham
Work on a series of sporting infrastructure upgrades to enhance the player and spectator experience is now complete.
Lighting poles have been installed at Wootten Road Reserve oval 1 to allow the Tarneit Titans Football Club and broader community to use the ground for training at night.
This $276,000 Wyndham City project was delivered in partnership with the State Government, which contributed $196,000.
Down the road at Hummingbird Reserve, eight new park bench seats have been installed along the perimeter of the reserve, giving spectators a comfortable vantage point when watching their team play.
And a new behind goal net has been installed at the southern end of Alamanda Oval in Point Cook, which will improve the safety of the reserve for all users and will prevent footballs from being kicked into neighbouring streets.
Wyndham City Active City portfolio holder Cr Peter Maynard said while these sporting infrastructure upgrades may appear minor, they will significantly improve the player and spectator experience at the three Wyndham sporting reserves.
“These works are part of a $20 million Wyndham City spend over the 2020/21 financial year in sports and recreation facilities,” Cr Maynard said.
“I’d like to thank Tarneit United Soccer Club and the Point Cook Centrals Football Club, who advocated for the upgrades at Hummingbird Reserve and Alamanda Oval through Wyndham City’s Club Capital Development Forum.”
“I’d also like to thank the Tarneit Titans. The lights at Wootten Road Reserve and the other upgrades are a prime example of Wyndham City working with sporting clubs and the community to improve our infrastructure.”
