Some Wyndham Roads become Smoother, with more to come

Wyndham City’s local roads program is going full steam ahead, with work on eight roads recently completed, a further five roads nearing completion and another reconstruction contract awarded.

Work is now complete on road reconstructions along Werribee’s King Street, Charlotte Crescent and Honour Avenue in Wyndham Vale, Bethany Road and Woodville Park Drive in Hoppers Crossing, and Atrium Drive, Berrimah Place and Bishop Close in Tarneit.

Meanwhile, the final touches to road reconstructions in Pandelis Avenue in Tarneit, and Chesterfield Drive, Mayfair Street, Bloomsbury Place and Pembroke Lane, all in Wyndham Vale, are currently underway.

Council’s City Design portfolio holder, Josh Gilligan, said Wyndham City had also awarded the contract for the reconstruction of Chadway Avenue, Finchley Park Crescent and Meadow Way in Tarneit, with works to begin in coming weeks. Cr Gilligan said, “Improving local roads is one of Council’s key priorities, and these works are just another step in working to build a liveable city,” Cr Gilligan said.

“This is part of a $11.75 million Wyndham City spend over 2020/21 to resurface and reconstruct various local roads throughout the municipality.”

“This is in addition to Council’s larger-scale road projects, with Wyndham City investing $1 million in 2020/21 to begin early service relocation works for the duplication of Tarneit Road between Sayers and Leakes roads.”

Wyndham City is responsible for upgrading and maintaining neighbourhood roads, while the State Government is responsible for delivering major roads, including highways.
