HOW IT HAPPENED

Werribee jumped out of the blocks with two goals inside the opening five minutes, before Frankston responded with three of the next five to trail by a goal at the first change.

A stunning seven-goal to one second quarter setup a 41-point Werribee lead at the main break, courtesy of some brilliant ball movement and team first football.

Frankston put the brakes on the hosts’ run in the third term, kicking three goals to one to bridge the gap to 32 points at the final change.

Werribee put to bed any hope of a Dolphins comeback with two quick majors to start the last quarter, before running out convincing 50-point victors.

Losing Ryley Barrack early to a nasty head clash, and managing a few sore bodies after half-time presented its challenges, which the group showed maturity to overcome.

Teenage spearhead Jake Riccardi booted a game-high four goals to move into equal second on the VFL’s goalkicking table with 28, while dynamic midfielder Joe Maishman was named Werribee’s best player for his dominant midfield display.
