HOW IT HAPPENED
A four-goal-to-two opening term in Werribee’s favour set the tone for a match that was well and truly played on the hosts terms. The “big W” took a 13-point lead into quarter time and extended it at every change, and it wasn’t until the 17-minute mark of the final quarter that the Demons had their first consecutive goals for the afternoon. In the absence of fellow key forward Timm House, Jake Riccardi stood tall as Werribee’s main target up forward to finish with two goals, but Max Augerinos proved to be the main scoreboard threat in finishing with three goals for the second time in three weeks.
